YOUNGSTERS from Donisthope Youth Club succeeded in showing a test of their strength at a charity fund-raising day on Saturday.
The group joined together to pull a double-decker bus over a distance of 35 metres, having collected sponsorship money for both the club and other charities.
After acommplishing their goal, they then decided to go one step further and put the bus back in its starting position while inviting visitors to the event to jump on board and then pulled it again.
They were hoping to raise around £1,000 through their efforts with a number of stalls set up to sell items as well as a barbecue for hungry onlookers.
Youth club worker Darren Wileman told the Mail: “It went really well. We pulled it once with nobody in it, then we put it back and let some of the kids get on the bus and pull it again, so we did it twice over.
“We also let parents and other people who came to support us having a go at pulling it as well. We’ve raised about 600 as it stands at the minute, but obviously we’ve still got sponsorship to come in, so we would reach our target.
