THIS lovely garden is the product of much hard work by green-fingered Alan Statham.
The 82-year-old has spent many an hour potting and preening to ensure his garden in Charnwood Road, Horninglow, is groomed to perfection.
And this, coupled with the family of scarecrows that occupy his front garden, is catching the attention of many passers-by.
Mr Statham said: "We get quite a few people stopping to look and take photos - I don't mind at all. We even had one lady who came all the way from Uttoxeter to take some pictures."
Speaking about the scarecrows, he said: "It all stemmed from the football – the original scarecrow wore an England flag and then when they got knocked out the flag came off and he met Mrs Scary and the baby came along.
"I've been gardening all my married life. My parents were keen gardeners and my grandad used to be head gardener at Newton Park Hotel.
"This time of year it's not too much work – it just needs a bit of water. It's the beginning of the year and the end that takes a lot of hard work, planting and digging it all up."
