Surprise defeat for the league leaders

JUNIOR FOOTBALL - UNDER 12

THERE was a shock result for BRIAN MOLE UNDER-12 DIVISION ONE leaders Gresley Juniors at the weekend as they went down 2-1 at lowly Barton Rovers.

The home sideʼs duo of Lee Bywater and George Scrimshaw outscored the effort from Gresleyʼs Blaise Dennis.

Second-placed Stapenhill Swans Blue seized the opportunity to close the gap at the top as doubles from Ryan Clemson, Kellan Gordon and Ryan Nesbitt saw off the challenge of Newhall Cougars 6- 0.

Also hitting their opponents for six, and improving their position in the process, were Lichfield Diamonds as they built on their 3-0 half-time lead against Tutbury Tigers.

The Diamonds scorers were Ashley Froggatt (2), Jamie Parish, Samuel Joyce, Kyron Morgan and Kieran Rowley.

Repton Casuals maintained their recent progress with a 1-0 win at Marlborough Rovers, Harry Bryan getting the all-important goal.

Unbeaten Winshill Gold remain nine points clear at the top of DNS BUILDING SERVICES UNDER-12 DIVISION TWO, with their latest success being a 7-1 triumph over a Uttoxeter Juniors side who only had nine players.

Liam Brown scored the consolation goal for Uttoxeter as Winshill replied through a Sheldon NʼDoli hat-trick and two apiece for Jack Bryant and Tunde Odunowo.

Midway continue to move up the table and are now in second place following their 4-0 victory over Newhall Lions. Stephen Miller scored three of the goals and Ryan Evans the other.

Willington Blue collected a tremendous point as they held higher-placed rivals Anglesey Swifts to a 2- 2 draw.

William Tidmarsh and Harry Taylor scored for Willington, with Swiftsʼ replies coming from Stephen Morgan and Callum Sanderson.

The mid-table clash between Whittington Wolves and Rocester also ended honours even as they shared the points in a 3-3 stalemate.

Mark Selway opened Rocesterʼs account with an early goal and was backed up by second-half strikes from Kane Falconer and Jordan Eagle to cancel out Wolves efforts from Jack Cunniff, Ben Tennant and Kane Wigley.

Doveridge went marching on at the head of HANDPRINT UNDER-12 DIVISION THREE as they kept up their 100 per cent record by beating Winshill Green 8-0.

Their goals came through Rob Clowes (2), Tom Goldsworthy (2), William Fowler, Ryan Lander, Joe Parker and Dominic Shahidullah.

Joining them in pulling away from the pursuing pack are Woodville Rangers, who secured an 8-2 victory for the second week in a row, this time defeating Stapenhill Swans White.

The same three players were also responsible for Rangersʼ goals, with Jack Gallagher smashing home four and Kieron Hicklin and Kristopher Thorpe two each to get the better of a double from Stapenhillʼs Jack Whysall.

A Harry Glacken penalty proved to be the only consolation for the nine players of Marlborough Rovers 2000 as their brave fight ended in a 4-1 defeat at Gresley White.

Goals from Nathan Turner, Danny Winsom and Regan Swift wrapped up the points.

Division Oneʼs Heather Juniors made their expected progress into the next round of the DNS BUILDING SERVICES UNDER-12 KNOCKOUT CUP with a comprehensive 9-0 defeat of Division Threeʼs Mackworth St Francis, with hat-tricks scored by both Jake Duthie and Joshua Ellwood.
