JUNIOR FOOTBALL - UNDER 16

ROCESTER Elkes Eagles returned to league action in UNDER-16 DIVISION TWO and promptly moved up to become joint leaders, maintaining their 100 per cent record as they just managed to get the better of TS Sports 3-2.

Anoop Billen and Scott Walker picked up two goals each and Joseph Oakton one as Hatton Sports got the better of Willington 5-2. Bradley Garner scored both Willington replies.

In the only remaining RUSHTON HICKMAN UNDER-16 KNOCKOUT CUP quarter-final, Heather Juniors made it through to the semi-finals with a convincing 5-2 victory over Midway.

Tom Gallacher scored twice for Midway, but Heather hit back through Ashley Coulter, Scott Harrison, Adam Hollens, Daniel Kendrick and Jack Ryder.

Winshill are still in command of INCHCAPE KIA YOUTH LEAGUE DIVISION ONE, with their A team top and their Gold side keeping pace in second.

The A team had a narrow escape at Whittington Cougars as they came away with a 4-3 win. Jacob Wright (2), Paul Rogers and Steven Wayte just managed to outscore Cougarsʼ Daniel Thurstance (2) and William Evans.

Winshill Gold had a somewhat easier task claiming their three points as they ran out 6-1 winners at Fulford and Tean. The home sideʼs Daniel Bayles was outgunned by Goldʼs Joshua Harris (2), Alex Leason (2), Matt DiGravio and Aaron Jackson.

A Joe Dudley brace for Willington proved to be their only joy as they collapsed to an 8-2 defeat at Edge Hill. Four goals for Jake Davies, supported by an Alex Crawshaw hat-trick and a single for George Avery, accounted for the home teamʼs tally.

TS Sports moved back to the top of newly named ESBC YOUTH LEAGUE DIVISION TWO with an emphatic 6-0 win at Winshill Green. Four goals from Elliott Ross and one each for Craig Bennett and Josh Kayes proved decisive.

Previous leaders Repton Casuals White came to grief at the hands of Stretton Swifts as they were surprisingly edged out 2-1. Matt Docksey and Grant Warrier were the scorers for Swifts, with Casualsʼ reply coming from Jordan Mason.

The clash between Doveridge and visitors Ashby Ivanhoe saw the home side finally win through 5-4. A James Crutchley hat-trick, supported by Nick Clarke and Aidan Peaty, for Doveridge managed to outdo the Ashby efforts from Joshua Hunt (2), Evan Cawley and Kieran Horner-Maddocks.

A classic tie took place in the INCHCAPE KIA YOUTH LEAGUE KNOCKOUT CUP.

The match between Marlborough Rovers and Barton Rovers was finally decided in favour of the former 8-7 on penalties after the sides had been locked together at 5-5 after extra-time.

Barton took an early lead, but were pegged back to 4-4 at the end of normal time before going ahead again in the extra half-hour.

They saw Marlborough equalise again and cruelly lost out on penalties.

Scorers for Barton were Tom Anderson (2), Aaron Frazer-Morris, Costas Marcou and Ben Robinson.
