IT’S your last chance to showcase your favourite pubs and beers in a project that will help Burton make the most of its brewing heritage.
A series of beer trails are currently being created which will be used to help promote the town and boost the local economy and Burton Mail readers are playing a key part in their creation.
The Burton Beer and Brewery Trails campaign is being organised by the Enjoy Burton project and the Mail has been inviting readers to support its scheme by suggesting beer trails involving at least three pubs that could form part of a major marketing campaign.
Favourite pubs such as The Devonshire Arms, Coopers Tavern and Burton Bridge are among the suggestions already received.
The closing date is tomorrow, but you still have chance to let us know your thoughts by either emailing us or visiting our website.
The final trails selected will be showcased on the Enjoy Burton website and will be included on promotional leaflets.
The Enjoy Burton project is a not-for-profit initiative established to promote leisure and business tourism in the area.
There are four partners involved: Enjoy Staffordshire, Burton and South Derbyshire College, Burton Chamber of Commerce and the Burton Mail.
Enjoy Burton director Dave Bryon says: “The objective of this is to showcase the heritage, variety and provenance of all the beers brewed in and around Burton.
“The concept has worked really well for wine in France, California and Australia and whiskey in Scotland and Ireland, where strong businesses have been developed out of doing trails.
“So why not beer? And what better place than Burton? And who better than readers of the Burton Mail to come up with the trails?”
These trails should involve at least three different pubs and beer types.
After all the suggestions are studied, a map will be produced of the most popular trails which will be available on the Enjoy Burton website and on 35,000 fold-out guides to the area, which will be distributed at hotels, tourist sites and the train station.
