A SPORTS centre in Swadlincote has undergone a £550,000 refurbishment, making it the 'second most used' in the county.
Green Bank Leisure Centre, in Civic Way, has been fitted with top-of-the-range equipment over the past four months and is now welcoming regular and new visitors.
Areas of the centre that have been improved include the gym and locker rooms, as well as a new reception, café and spin class studio.
Centre manager Steve Smith said: "We went over the £500,000 budget a little bit but it's all part of making sure that everything is done properly.
"We see at least 1,000 people a day, which makes us the second busiest in the county."
The centre has also made use of its old bar, which was previously rarely used and is now a function room available for parties or conferences.
It also boasts a new crèche for parents who want to go to the gym or classes.
Mr Smith said: "We want to be able to offer things that a normal leisure centres wouldn't be able to offer.
"We are looking at more community activities, like dance groups and behaviour programmes with schools, so we can be more outward as opposed to your stereotypical leisure centre."
