ANOTHER residential development could be added to land in South Derbyshire as plans for 16 homes have been revealed.
Urban Designs Ltd is to apply for permission to build the affordable homes on land off Moira Road, Woodville, with trees and screening to be added.
This project follows on from the recent development in Wood Street, Church Gresley which was completed in 2012 and the current building work at Princess Street, Church Gresley.
The Mail recently revealed there are plans underway for a 300-home development on land close to Gresley Football Club which could also mean the expansion of nearby St George’s Primary School.
While residents understand a need for new housing, there are concerns over traffic, parking and school capacities.
A public exhibition was recently held to invite comments which will make up the final plans before an application is submitted to South Derbyshire District Council.
Plans for 43 homes are also still in the pipeline for Gresley FC’s Moat Street ground, in Church Gresley which will finance the club’s move to another site.
St Modwen is also behind proposals for 214 homes on land close to Swadlincote Lane, Castle Gresley, which comes after its original plans were thrown out and then withdrawn at appeal.
It will also include warehouses which could accommodate 150 jobs, and new open space.
A decision was due to be made last November but plans have been put off while information was being amended.
