TWO people were taken to hospital following a crash at a roundabout on an evening of drama on Burton’s roads.

A man was cut out of his car after the crash between a silver Mazda and a Vauxhall Astra at the Morrisons island in Wellington Road, Branston, at 10.30pm on Wednesday.

The road was blocked for more than an hour while paramedics attended to the injured and the vehicles were recovered.

Two people were taken to Burton’s Queen’s Hospital, but their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

The collision came just hours after a motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital following a smash in Ashby Road, Winshill.

A fire service spokesman said: “A male was released by firefighters with hydraulic cutting equipment and was transferred to hospital.”
