An amputee who lost her leg in a horrific rollercoaster crash at Alton Towers is "starting to feel confident in (her) own skin" as she posts holiday bikini shots.

Leah Washington, 19, was one of those seriously injured in the Smiler crash in June 2015. She was on her first date with fellow Barnsley resident Joe Pugh, 18, who shattered both kneecaps in the accident.

The pair have stayed together and embarked on a holiday to Marbella, Spain. Leah has taken to Instagram to show off her bikini body, which includes her prosthetic leg.

She said: "Just after my accident, body confidence was one of my biggest problems. My body and life had changed forever and it is something that I’m still getting used to.

"Going on holiday and wearing a bikini in front of so many other people was one of my biggest fears, but now I'm starting to feel confident in my own skin, and bikini, and realise that every individual looks great in their own way and don’t worry about what other people think – it’s irrelevant."

Rachel Webb posted: "You look incredible whatever anyone thinks! I think you're so amazing and an inspiration to have gone through what you have and come out the person you are."
