Slow traffic build up in Overseal

Slow traffic is causing major delays on the A444 for Burton Road, with tailbacks affecting the B5004 Woodville Road and Lullington Road in the roadworks area.

Travellers still at the Riverside Hotel, in Branston, as legal steps begin

A hotel in Branston is hoping to remove travellers from its car park after they set up camp yesterday, Wednesday, August 23. The group up pitched at the Riverside Hotel and remain at the site today.

An eyewitness claimed that two caravans are still on site at the hotel which is situated in Riverside Drive, in the village.

Audi owner left at roadside in Newton Solney as fake buyers stole car on test drive

Two men who pretended they were interested in buying an Audi later stole the vehicle during a test drive after abandoning its owner by the roadside.

Derbyshire Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with information after a blue Audi S1 Quattro was stolen by two men, described as of Asian appearance, during a test drive in Newton Solney, on Tuesday, August 22.

John Taylor pupils receive record-breaking GSCE and BTEC grades, with almost a third of all grades being either an A or A*

John Taylor High School is celebrating the achievements of their year 11 pupils after receiving record-breaking results for their GCSE and BTEC courses.

Almost a third of the results recorded by pupils at the school were at A or A* level, the Barton schools best ever results.

GCSE grades for Maths and English have both changed this year, and were presented on a scale from U, being the lowest, to 9, being the highest. At John Taylor, 22 grade 9’s were achieved.

Air ambulance lands in Church Gresley

An air ambulance landed in Church Gresley after a patient was experiencing a medical emergency.

East Midlands Ambulance Service received a call at 7.49pm on August 23 to a private address, in Glamorgan Way, Church Gresley. The caller reported that someone was experiencing a medical emergency. EMAS sent a community first responder, an ambulance car, a crewed ambulance and the air ambulance and one patient was taken to Burton Queen’s Hospital by land ambulance.

Police release image of man they want to speak to in connection with arson attack which destroyed car and spread to homes in Burton

This is the image of the man police want to speak to after car was set fire to and the blaze spread to two homes in a Burton street. Staffordshire Police are now appealing for witnesses following the deliberate fire which happened in Thornley Street, Burton. Read more here...

Lanes re-opened after M1 crash

Traffic at a standstill on the M1 after a crash between a car and a lorry.

Leicestershire Police say three lanes were closed, but Highways England has said they have since all been re-opened.

Delays on M1 after a crash between a car and a lorry

Traffic is delayed around East Midlands Airport after reports of an accident.

It is believed that a lorry and a car were involved in the incident which has blocked two lanes in the roadworks area.

It is not yet known if anybody has been injured.

Heavy traffic on the A511

There is heavy traffic on the A511 Ashby Road in both directions.

Delays are caused by road works in the area and congestion is particularly bad around Mervyn Road.

The region is set to remain dry for the entirety of today, according to weather forecasters.

There will be sunny spells, particularly in the morning, and will increase during the afternoon.

Vehicle fire on M42 Southbound

One lane is closed due to a vehicle fire on the M42 Southbound.

The incident took place between junction 11 at the A42 for Burton and junction 10 for the A5 at Tamworth.

Lane one of two is closed. Emergency services are en route.
