Woman taken to hospital 'slipped as she got off children's ride'

A person who was taken to hospital following an incident at Ashby Statutes fair at the weekend was hurt when they slipped exiting a children’s ride, says an organiser of the event.

It was originally reported that someone had fallen from the waltzer ride in Market Street at 2.16pm on Saturday, September 16, but Michael Harris, one of the organisers of the annual fair, said the incident actually on one of the children’s rides.

M1 closed in Northampton as police probe 'suspicious object'

The M1 has been closed between junctions 14 and 15 in Buckingham shire after a suspicious object was found under a bridge.

One Twitter user said the closure was caused by a “smoking package containing yellow bubbling liquid”.

The bomb squad are now on the scene dealing with the object.

Traffic is reported to be backing up towards Coventry, as motorists get caught in tailbacks.

Leicestershire Police fail to record more than 21,000 crimes in a year including rape and grooming

The police force which investigated the murder of schoolgirl Kayleigh Haywood has come under fire for failing to record more than 21,000 crimes a year, including offences of rape and grooming.

A report issued by HM Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services revealed that Leicestershire Police failed to record more than 21,000 crimes in a year, including rapes, domestic violence and serious assaults. Reports of children being groomed online were also not officially logged as recorded crimes.

Accident on the A50 causing queuing traffic

An accident on the A50 is causing major disruption for motorists.

There is queuing traffic between junction 3 A514 at Swakestone Road at Swadlincote and junction 4 A38 Etwall Road.

Due to the accident on the Eastbound Carriageway a full closure has been implemented for recovery of vehicle that crossed the central reservation onto the Westbound side of the road.

The tour will waltz into Birmingham and Nottingham in January and February, and tickets go on sale at 8am on Friday, September 22. Burton Albion will lock horns once again with Premier League giants Manchester United tomorrow - more than 11 years after their last cup clash when the Red Devils sparked football mania in the town.

The Brewers, at the time a Conference outfit, earned a hard-fought 0-0 draw at the Pirelli Stadium in January 2006, before losing the FA Cup third round replay 5-0. But that defeat didn’t stop a footballing revolution which was to change the fortunes of the East Staffordshire club forever.

Accident on M1 southbound

One lane is closed on the M1 southbound due to an accident, traffic and travel information website Inrix is reporting.

The accident happened on the southbound between J25 A52 Brian Clough Way (Nottingham / Derby) and J24 A6 / A50 / A453 (Kegworth / East Midlands Airport)

Lane one of three is closed and there is queuing traffic being reported.

Driver lucky to escape horrific crash in Derbyshire

A driver was “lucky to escape with minor injuries” after a car hit standing water near South Derbyshire and careered into a lamppost, police have said.

Officers from Derbyshire Police’s roads policing unit took to social media to warn other motorists to “drive to the conditions,” following the incident, which happened on the slip road from the A6 to the A50, near Alvaston.
