SECOND and THIRD Aldi stores could open in Burton under new retail strategy

Burton could be welcoming TWO new Aldi supermarkets to town as a third store looks set to get given the go-ahead as part of a plan to build a new retail park near the Pirelli Stadium is set to be considered by planners today, Tuesday, November 14.

The German retailer already has a store in Horninglow Street, in the town, but is one of the first stores to be named as set to come to the newly-approved Burton Shopping Park.

DJ sets and an eco-spa among attractions at the National Forest’s FIRST EVER festival

The National Forest will welcome thousands of visitors next summer when it launches its first ever festival - to be called Timber.

The extraordinary event, scheduled to take place from July 6 to July 8, will combine music, art, philosophy and sustainability to create one of Britain’s boldest environmental projects, in the heart of the National Forest.

Derbyshire Police looking for dash cam footage after Etwall crash left three people in hospital

Police are appealing for information after a head-on collision in Etwall left three people in hospital, including a seven-month-old baby.

At around 2.10pm on Thursday, November 2, an Audi and a lorry were involved in a crash in Etwall Road, close to the Seven Wells pub. Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said that two people had to be rescued from a vehicle at the scene and were later taken to hospital

Alcoholic threatened to kill Burton hospital staff with BB gun

Staff at Burton’s Queen’s Hospital were left fearing for their lives after a 25-year-old alcoholic threatened to shoot and kill them with a BB gun.

Patrick Hodgkinson, of Gordon Street, Burton, managed to avoid an immediate jail sentence after appearing in court charged with threatening to kill staff and a police officer during the incident at the Belvedere Road hospital.

Accident on A42 causing delays in Burton and Ashby

An earlier accident on the A42 Northbound at J12 B5006 Measham Road (Measham / Ashby-de-la-zouch ) has caused congestion on A42 to M42 J11.

Burton motorists are currently being affected by the accident which has left one lane closed on the exit slip road. There is also queuing traffic heading away from Measham towards Breedon on the Hill.

Traffic is easing on the A38 southbound at A61 Alfreton Road and B6179 Little Eaton Island following previous delays.

Queuing traffic on the A511 southbound

There is queuing traffic on the A511 southbound.

There is a lane closure due to road works between B5006 Derby Road and B587 Nottingham Road in Ashby.

Temporary traffic lights in Woodville causing delays for motorists

Temporary traffic lights are causing problems for early morning commuters.

There is queuing traffic on the A514 Swadlincote Road in both directions around Rose Hill.

Slow traffic on the M42 southbound

Traffic information website Inrix is reporting that there is slow traffic on the M42 southbound.

Motorists should be wary of delays between junction 11 A42 for Burton and junction 10 A5 for Tamworth.
