A Burton man who was caught with cannabis and was intending to supply has had his case dealt with at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court.

Cannabis case

A man has admitted possession of cannabis. Paul Wakelam, 34, of Church View, Burton, indicated a plea of guilty to possession of 99.2 grams of cannabis with intent to supply; 6.73 grams of cannabis resin; and driving a Seat Leon in Harper Avenue, Burton, without due care and attention. All the offences happened in Burton on January 18.
He has been given a 26-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months because he was dealing in drugs to colleagues. He was also ordered to complete a drug rehabilitation order.

Speeding crime

A man has admitted speeding in Woodville. Jacob Johnson, 19, of Mansfield Road, Underwood, Nottingham, admitted via the single justice procedure of driving a Renault Megane on the A511 Burton Road, Woodville, on January 22, at 57mph, exceeding the 30mph speed limit.
He has been fined £180 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge, and his licence was endorsed with six points.

Motoring offence

A man has admitted speeding. Connor McClaren, 27, of Hastings Road, Swadlincote, admitted via the single justice procedure to driving a Ford Fiesta in Hearthcote Road, Swadlincote, on January 22, at 53mph, exceeding the 30mph speed limit.
He has been fined £253 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with six points.

Driver caught

A woman has admitted speeding. Elizabeth Newman, 60, of The Evergreens, Stretton, admitted via the single justice procedure to driving a Misubishi on the A511 Burton Road, Midway, on January 25, at 36mph, exceeding the 30mph speed limit.
She has been fined £41 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge. Her licence was endorsed with three points.

Midway case

A man has admitted speeding. Niall Sedgewick, 53, of New Road, Boylestone.
Admitted via the single justice procedure of driving a Fiat on the A511 Burton Road, Midway, on December 3, at 36mph, exceeding the 30mph speed limit.
He has been fined £146 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge, and his licence was endorsed with three points.
