Armed police were called to Burton in the evening on Wednesday, July 5, after reports of a man seen brandishing a large knife.

A police helicopter circled around the area after Staffordshire Police were called to the Eton Park area of Burton at around 7.05pm. Witnesses said the helicopter was spotted circling above the houses near Horninglow Road.

One eyewitness who watched the helicopter from her garden said: “It was so loud. At the back of my house, there’s a big tree, and the helicopter was so loud that you could see the leaves on the tree shaking.

“It was circling around above our house for a while then stopped still in the air for about 10 or 15 minutes.”

Armed police were sent to the park, along with support from the dogs unit and the police helicopter. The force conducted a full search of the area.

Nobody was injured during the incident.

Staffordshire Police are now appealing for witnesses and anyone with information is urged to call the police on the non-emergency 101 number quoting incident number 778 on July 5.
