Volunteers are being asked to help a Branston woodland for future generations by joining a working party.

The rallying cry has been made to selfless residents to join the new work party which will help look after an ancient woodland site in the area.

The new work party will be based at The Toad Hole, next to Paget High School, in Burton Road, Branston, with the first session taking place on Saturday, July 15. Subsequent sessions will take place on the third Saturday of every month.

The volunteers will be managed by the Staffordshire Wildlife Trust in partnership with Branston Parish Council thanks to funding from the National Forest.

Peter McNee, from Staffordshire Wildlife Trust who will help to lead the work party, said: “This is a chance for people to come along, get some fresh air and help to conserve this fantastic woodland within Branston.

“It will also give people the chance to make friends and learn new skills including practical management techniques – and the chance to improve your fauna and flora identification skills.”

The work party will meet at the northern end of the site off the main road and it will take place between 10am and 1pm. Anyone who wishes to join should email Mr McNee at the Trust at here
