A 20-year-old man has avoided an immediate jail sentence after he was caught dealing drugs in Burton. Zakeeb Moore, 20, of Meredith Close, Burton, appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates court to admit a series of drug supply charges and his case was adjourned to Stafford Crown Court for sentencing.

He pleaded guilty to possession of 3.53 grams of crack cocaine, of 2.85 grams of heroin, and of 3.474 grams of cannabis, all with intent to supply in Burton.

Moore also admitted taking a Volkswagen Golf without the consent of the owner, and driving the vehicle, in Watson Street, Burton, without insurance. All offences occurred in Burton on February 3.

Moore was sentenced to two years in prison suspended for two years and ordered to complete 250 hours unpaid work and a 10 day rehabilitation activity requirement.

He was also banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay £340 court costs and a £140 victim surcharge.
