A man from Burton charged with sexual communication with a child collapsed in the police cells before he was due to appear in court, it has been revealed.

Kevin Collins was due to appear before magistrates at Cannock Magistrates' Court today, Monday, July 17, charged with three child sex offences.

However, before he was taken up to court he collapsed in the cells and was taken to hospital. A reappearance could be scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, July 18, if he has been discharged from hospital.

Staffordshire Police said the 44-year-old was arrested in the area on the afternoon of Saturday, July 15.

He is charged with three counts of sexual communication with a child following an investigation by detectives and has been remanded in custody.
