A 59-year-old man admitted offences of using the internet at his Burton home to attempt to incite underage girls into sexual activity.

George Ingledew appeared at Stafford Crown Court via video link from prison following his arrest on July 27 at his flat in Princess Street, Burton.

He admitted a charge of attempting to cause a 14-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity in April this year.

Ingledew also pleaded guilty to three offences of attempting to engage in sexual communications with underage girls on the internet on dates in April and July this year.

At court Judge Michael Challinor adjourned sentence until September 18 for reports and granted Ingledew bail with conditions which include residence at his home address and not using any internet device unless its history can be displayed and not downloading software to destroy any search history. He must also immediately register as a sex offender.
