Plans to turn a popular cycling shop into a restaurant may not go ahead, it has been revealed.

Veneziaa’s Italian Restaurant, in Guild Street, Burton, has unveiled outline plans to move into the current Sheffield Cycles shop, in nearby Station Street, creating an additional three or four full-time jobs.

However, a spokesman for the restaurant has said that, while plans have been submitted to East Staffordshire Borough Council, they may not move after all and that it has no plans to move from its home currently.

Sheffield Cycles declined to comment but did say it also has no plans to relocate.

Pavan Kundra, of Walsall-based Sunrise Property Ltd, has applied to the council’s planning department for permission to change the use of the retail cycle store to a restaurant.

The proposed work in this existing single storey property is for the refurbishment of the existing ground floor to create a restaurant and bar/café.
