A Burton motorist has denied causing death by driving without due care and attention while allegedly under the influence of cocaine.

Kirsten Ellis, 23, of Wetmore Road, Burton, appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday, July 18, after the death on the A52 Derby Road, Lenton, in Nottingham.

It is alleged she drove a vehicle without due care and attention. The charge also alleges that she had cocaine in her system on October 8, last year.

After entering her plea during a short hearing, Ellis’ case was listed for trial on February 12, next year. The hearing is expected to last two to three days.

Judge Sarah Buckingham, who dealt with her plea and trial preparation hearing, told Ellis there would be a further case management hearing on January 18, 2018.

Ellis was granted unconditional bail until that date.
