An East Staffordshire councillor has been out once again, cleaning up the streets of Burton. This is the third time in as many months that Councillor Syed Hussain has rolled up his sleeves and pro-actively taken to the streets and got his hands dirty.

The local politician, responsible for the Burton Trent division on Staffordshire County Council, has been cleaning up Uxbridge Street, in Burton, to help keep the drains clear along the side of the road.

Mr Hussain said: "This gives me enormous satisfaction; it’s another hugely successful operation in Uxbridge Street and South Uxbridge Street. This was one of my many promises during the elections, and I am so happy to be able to follow it through.

"I want to thank everybody who helped me, and for the co-operation of the residents who live on these roads."

The last time Councillor Hussain took to the streets was July 11, when he helped to clear clogged drains in Anglesey Road, which had caused the area to become "like a lake" whenever it rained heavily.

He posted an update on his Facebook page explaining what he had been doing on Uxbridge Street and received many plaudits for helping out in the area.

May Arthur commented: "You’re doing your neighbourhood a fine job Syed."

Another user, Mohammed Tanvir, said: "Well done brother; you’re doing great work for the community. I’ve never seen before any other councillor working like you."

A third user, Amin Khan, even called for the councillor to now move on to help clear another of Burton’s roads, saying: "Well done, now onto Walker Street."
