Commuters heading home into Burton are facing delays due to roadworks and a broken down vehicle on the A38 Southbound.

Temporary traffic lights are in place near the Pirelli Stadium around a large hole in the road. Traffic coming into the town is backed up to the A38 at Clay Mills.

A HGV has also broken down on the A38 between the B5016 and A5121, causing more issues for travellers as two lanes have been closed. The incident is believed to have happened just after 5pm. Staffordshire Police are on the scene and the road is expected to re-open shortly.

Midland Classic has tweeted that some of its services will be delayed due to the traffic problems on the road.

Meanwhile, traffic is moving slowly on the A511 at Midway crossroads, due to temporary traffic lights. Congestion is building and motorists are being advised to avoid the area if they can.

The delays are caused by roadworks that will be in place until Thursday, June 29, as Cadent are carrying out essential works in the road to connect properties to the gas network.
