Work to bulldoze a warehouse and electricity sub-station to build 47 homes on former brewery land in Burton has now been completed.

Demolition had been delayed as the owners were struggling to sell the land due to its high density surroundings, it has emerged.

Plans to build 47 homes, in Victoria Crescent, had previously been approved and the applicant Coleman Investments Ltd, was given a year for work on the site to begin, said a council spokesman.

The applicant was later given further approval by the planning authority East Staffordshire Borough Council to extend this time limit from one year to 18 months.

The plan, which includes building four affordable homes, and 94 car parking spaces.

The buildings were in a generally good state of repair and were until recently utilised by Ritchie’s, a beer and wine manufacturing products specialist, and Consortia’s, a Construction Completion service operator.

Ritchie Products later relocated to Derby Road in Burton. Consortia has consolidated its business in Derby.
