Traffic lights were causing problems for motorists this morning, Tuesday, July 11, as the set at a major Burton town centre junction failed.

Motorists were spotted having to cautiously navigate their way across the junction for Station Street, Union Street and Guild Street, near Sainbury's supermarket in the town centre around 7.30am morning.

However, later a policewoman was seen directing traffic through the junction while work began to get the traffic lights working again. She managed to get the traffic moving again.

One eyewitness said he had been walking past Sheffield Cycles, in Station Street, when he saw the policewoman in the middle of the road, waving traffic through. He noticed that by this time there was no problem with traffic and no gridlock.

A police car had also pulled up Union Street, near the junction. By 9am, it had been reported that the traffic lights were working again and traffic was flowing normally.
