A 93-year-old retired Burton newsagent was involved in a collision with a car while on her mobility scooter, an inquest heard.

Dorothy Gertrude Upton was taken to Royal Derby Hospital on September 9 after being struck by the car on Alexandra Road in Swadlincote.

The inquest at Derby Coroner's Court heard that she died the following day in hospital.

The cause of Mrs Upton's death has not yet been confirmed.

Dorothy, who was originally from Burton, was a retired newsagent.

An investigation into the incident by Derbyshire police is still ongoing and a decision as to whether another hearing at Derby Coroner’s Court will take place is yet to be made.
