A man has been caught stealing bread and milk as well as attempting to steal cans of vodka as he becomes the latest to be dealt with at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court:

Shoplifting across Swadlincote

A man has admitted a string of shoplifting offences Lewis Parker, 27, of Skinners Way, Midway, admitted attempting to stealing food from Sainsbury's, Newhall, on January 7. He admitted stealing bread and milk from Sainsbury's, Newhall, on December 30 and January 1. He also admitted attempting to steal cans of vodka from Sainsbury's, Newhall, on December 28. He has been made the subject of a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 court costs, a £20 victim surcharge and a total of £70 compensation.

A man has admitted breaching a court order. Alan Shipley, 39, of Midland Road, Swadlincote, indicated a plea of guilty to breaching a non-molestation order by contacting a woman via Facebook, in Swadlincote, on August 14. He has been made the subject of a eight week prison sentence suspended for 12 months. He was ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Criminal damage

A woman has admitted criminal damage. Amy Brigdon, 30, of Tunnel Close, Woodville, admitted assaulting a man in Swadlincote on July 2. She also admitted damaging a television belonging to the same man. She also admitted assaulting a police officer. She has been made the subject of a 12 month community order. She was fined £40 and ordered to pay £10 compensation, £85 court costs and a £85 victim surcharge.

Assaulting a woman

A man has admitted assaulting a woman. Jamie Mellor, 28, of Davis Road, Swadlincote, admitted assaulting a woman in Swadlincote on June 27. He also admitted resisting a police officer. He has been made the subject of a 16-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months because it was a sustained assault, significant injuries and defendant under the influence of alcohol. He was ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £115 victim surcharge. He was ordered to carry out 100 hours unpaid work. He must abide by a restraining order not to go to an address in Swadlincote for six months.

Exceeding the speed limit

A man was caught speeding. It was proved via the single justice procedure that David Atkins, 47, of Well Lane, Repton, exceeded the 30mph speed limit by driving at 36mph in Burton Road, Midway, on February 18.
He has been fined £220 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with three points.
