A lorry fire partially closed the A38 at Burton overnight for more than three hours, and is still causing traffic problems.

Traffic information service Inrix says the fire took place between the northbound junctions of A5121 (Branston Interchange) and A5121 (Clay Mills).

It also adds an HGV broken down at the scene causing further problems to motorists during the night, and police are currently guarding it.

Inrix says a "large clean up operation" took place following the lorry and tree fire and the road reopened at 5am this morning after closing at 1.30am.

The incident is adding an extra travel time and motorists should be aware of queuing traffic.

Highways England says one lane is now open on the northbound carriageway where the fire took place but the other lane remains closed. Police and recovery team are now at the scene.
