A 41-year-old has been arrested by detectives in connection with a suspicious death of a man in his 60s in Stretton, Burton.

A police spokesman said officers were called to a block of flats on Main Street, Stretton, on Saturday, July 29, at about 8.15pm.

Officers went to the house after concerns were raised about a man in his 60s inside the property. When police arrived they found the man’s body inside the property.

Reaction around the property are of shock and confusion, as many residents were asking for answers on what had happened.

Many living nearby claimed that they did not hear anything during the night and awoke to a great shock at the news, as police officers ‘were everywhere’.

One resident, who lives close to the flat where police forensic teams were working explained that although he did not know the man who had died he is known as ‘chatty and a really friendly chap.’

He explained: “I didn’t hear a thing last night and I just live over the road. I didn’t know him well, but he was always around.

“He was always chatty and just a really friendly chap, I just can’t believe this.”

The death is being treated as suspicious and a 41-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death.

The 41-year-old remains in custody and has been questioned about the incident, according to a police spokesman.

A post-mortem examination is set to take place on Monday, July 31. Police presence and forensics teams remain at the block of flats, in Stretton while investigations continue.
