An investigation into a fight outside a Burton nightclub which left a man in intensive care is continuing as police reveal they are no further forward.

Police believe the disturbance involved two groups, one of which had around four people, and it is believed to have involved a weapon, possibly a bat of some sort.

Staffordshire Police was alerted to the incident, which happened near Fever nightclub, in High Street, at around 4.10am on Friday, May 26.

The man was taken to hospital. He was later discharged having been in intensive care for two days.

Inquiries are still ongoing after the incident, and Staffordshire Police has confirmed that no arrests have yet been made.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "Detectives are looking for witnesses to the incident which occurred in the High Street/Station Street area of Burton at around 4am on Friday, May 26.

"A number of men were involved in the disturbance and detectives are reviewing CCTV from surrounding buildings as they investigate the incident."
