A damaged lamp post worrying shoppers using a Burton supermarket should not be there too much longer, say store bosses.

The lamp post, which was knocked over a few weeks, has since been cordoned off using trolleys and warning cones have been placed around it by staff.

It is not known for sure what caused the lamp post to fall, but many think a car may have hit the lamppost, knocking it over.

Shoppers have expressed concern that children could climb on to the lamppost and injure themselves, but staff at Sainsbury's have said they have done everything they can to make it safe.

A spokesperson said: "We're not sure when it will be fixed, as we are waiting on a third party to come out to it.

"It was reported on the day it happened, and we have put a cordon around the area to make it safe.

"The safety of our customers is our main priority."
