A woman has been told she must to pay compensation after she was caught trying to steal a door hanger and a monkey toy from a toy store.

Her case was among the latest dealt with at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court:

Toy theft

A woman has admitted attempted theft. Marie Holloway, 37, of Short Street, Stapenhill, indicated a plea of guilty to attempting to steal a door hanger and a monkey music toy worth a total of £154.98 from Toys R Us, Chaddesden, Derby, on November 5.
She has been made the subject of a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £155 compensation.

Train offence

A man was caught failing to buy a train ticket. It was proved in his absence that Abdul Ghafoor, 24, of Uxbridge Street, Burton, intended to avoid payment of a £7.40 train far between Derby and Burton on January 13.
He has been fined £440, and ordered to pay £7.40 compensation, £130 court costs and a £44 victim surcharge.

Assault case

A man has admitted assault. Mindaugas Cesnaitis, 28, of Saw Mill Way, Burton, admitted assaulting a man in Burton on March 4.
He hs been made the subject of a 12-month community order and must do 80 hours unpaid work.
He has also been ordered to pay £100 compensation, £300 court costs and a £85 victim surcharge.

Cocaine

A man has admitted possession of cocaine. Steven Reilly, 24, of Devon Close, Burton, indicated a plea of guilty to possession of 206mg of cocaine in Burton on December 31.
He has been made the subject of a 12-month community order and must observe a 12-week curfew. He was also ordered to carry out 60 hours unpaid work.
He must also pay £85 court costs and a £85 victim surcharge.

Breath specimen

A man has admitted failing to provide a specimen of breath. Shaun Brassington, 31, of Didcot Drive, Marchington, admitted failing to provide a specimen of breath in Burton on June 30.
He was given a 12-week jail sentence suspended for 12 months because the court heard he had an accident after driving over the legal limit, he left the scene and refused to give his details and refused to give a specimen of breath.
He has been ordered to abide by a 12-week curfew and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge. He has been banned from driving for 30 months.
