Thousands of music fans will be descending on Weston Park, in Staffordshire, this weekend to pitch their tents, don their wellies and party on down at one of the year’s greatest music events.

Virgin V Festival will be entertaining music lovers when it returns on Saturday, August 19 and Sunday, August 20 - and this year organisers are pulling out all the stops.

Headlining on the Saturday night is rap legend Jay Z who will follow Ellie Goulding, Stormzy and Clean Bandit who will be providing the soundtrack to the (hopefully sunny) Saturday. The perfect line-up of Craig David, Jess Glynne, Anne-Marie and George Ezra, will help nurse festivalgoers' hangover, not to mention music legend Pink who will be capping off the festivities.

There are also laughs to be had at the comedy tent, with funnymen Joel Dommett, Lee Nelson, Seann Walsh doing what they do best.

Fancy throwing some shapes? Nobody is going to stop you- after all you are at a festival, but if you are after some serious tunes to get down to, you need look no further, because heading up the dance tent will be no other that Steve Aoki, Galantis, Don Diablo, Sigala.

Whether you are passionate about pop, fancy some grime or r ‘n’ b, there is something for everyone as some of the world’s hottest acts will be taking to the stage.

Old school favourites scouting for girls will be making a return alongside every noughties teen dream - Busted, while Madness will be tearing up the stage for those who fancy taking a step back in time.

For me this will be my third time at Virgin V Festival however, it will be the first for my husband who is somewhat of a festival novice.

A fan of greats such as Queen and Def Leppard I didn't think it would be quite his bag but he assures me he is looking forward to seeing Ellie Goulding, whose rendition of 'how long will I love you' rang out as we cut our wedding cake.

I am most looking forward to seeing Ella Eyre, who I like to call 'Ella Hair' because of her impressive locks. After missing out on her set at Donington Park earlier this summer when she supported pop princesses Little Mix, I have been waiting for this moment to see her shine. I saw her perform one song alongside Olly Murs a few years back and it was one of the best moments of my life, actually.

Although the weather this month has been far from what we would expect from a season called summer, there may be a need for sun tan lotion and sunglasses among the essential wellies and waterproofs.

If you are planning on going along and pitching up on the Friday evening, you will find yourself bathing in 17c heat, with a few clouds. Saturday is set to feature some sun and a stray shower with a slightly higher temperature of 18C so make sure to have your rain macs handy.

Sunday boasts a nicer outlook with forecasts saying it will be a partly cloudy day with some sunny spells early to mid morning.
