The problems on train lines around Burton has been resolved and services are now running as normal.

A freight train had broken down between Burton and Tamworth, causing delays of up to 45 minutes for those travelling between Derby and Birmingham New Street this morning, July 28.

National Rail has confirmed through its Twitter page that: “Trains are now running normally between Tamworth and Burton-on-Trent following a broken down freight train between these stations.”

Some services were being diverted from Tamworth through Leicester as the train line attempted to get commuters to work on time.

Traffic monitoring website, Inrix has confirmed that the broken down train has been moved and that normal service has been resume on CrossCountry Southbound between Derby and Birmingham New Street.

Elsewhere on the roads this morning, there is slow traffic on the A511 Horninglow Road in Burton at the A5121, Derby Road heading Southbound.
