Two females were taken to hospital after a house fire in Burton. Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said that crews from Tutbury and Burton were called to Derby Road at 4.09pm yesterday, Sunday, July 30.

The fire was reported in a bedroom on the first floor and was "well alight" by the time the firefighters arrived.

The crews also requested an ambulance and two females were taken to Burton's Queen's Hospital, in Belvedere Road, where they were treated for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the blaze is not yet known and the fire investigation is set to continue today, Monday, July 31, to establish how it was started. Firefighters then left the scene at 5.11pm.
