A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a 30-year-old woman convicted of drug offences who has links to the Burton area. Laura Anne Howell is said to have breached a court order just one week after being given a two-year suspended prison sentence earlier this month.

The sentence was imposed on August 4 at Shrewsbury Crown Court when Howell was made subject to a drug testing and rehabilitation order.

In addition she was offered a place at the Willowdean rehabilitation centre to address her drug addiction and had to live only where approved by the probation service.

Judge Jonathan Gosling had told Howell that a lot of people were prepared to help her, but he warned her that the opportunity would not be offered again.

The court heard she had been living in a squat in Oswestry and it was accepted she was selling drugs from her home but had been under the spell of other people. Howell had admitted two charges of being in possession of heroin and cocaine with intent to supply in January this year.

Police found 10 wraps of heroin and three wraps of cocaine, with a street value of around £130, in a make-up case at her address.

Officers also recovered £130 in cash and found a series of text messages on her mobile phone which related to the supply of drugs.

The court heard she had been a drug addict for a considerable time and had 10 previous convictions for shoplifting.

Howell had been in custody on remand and appeared at court via a video link but failed to comply with the suspended sentence order on her release and on August 11, magistrates at Telford have now issued the warrant for her arrest.
