Strong winds are set to batter Burton, Uttoxeter and South Derbyshire tonight. The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for wind with gusts predicted to reach between 55 and 65 mph today, Tuesday, September 12.

In some more exposed places it could reach 75 mph. Forecasters have said that this could lead to longer journey times by road, rail and air with restrictions on roads and bridges so people are urged to allow extra time if they are thinking of heading out.

There is also a chance of power cuts and damage to trees and maybe buildings.

However, the day is set to mainly dry with some bright and sunny spells. The odd light shower is possible and it will start to get cloudier by around lunchtime before the rain hits tonight. Temperatures will reach highs 17C and lows of 13C.
