An elderly woman who was riding a mobility scooter has died after a crash involving a car.

Police said the 93-year-old woman was in Alexandra Road in Swadlincote, on Friday afternoon, September 8, when she was caught up in a "collision with a car".

The woman was taken to the Royal Derby Hospital after the incident at 1.30pm, but she died in hospital yesterday, Sunday, September 10.

A Derbyshire police spokesman said officers were investigating the circumstances of the incident.

He said: "The woman was 93 and was taken to the Royal Derby Hospital but she died yesterday."

The spokesman said anyone who witnessed the incident should call police on 101 quoting incident number 17000 385955.
