Two Church Gresley pet care businesses are merging together to form one brand new top dog grooming location under a new name, Growlers.

Pinfold Pet Grooming, owned by Clare Banton and Emma Nicholson’s’ Berts Paws and Claws are merging together to form the brand new umbrella.

Pinfold has been open in Church Gresley for more than 10 years, offering grooming for dogs from Chihuahuas to Great Danes, while Bert's Paws and Claws was only opened two years ago, selling a range of animal accessories and toys.

The two business owners became close friends, even offering to help out in each other’s stores a couple of days a week.

The pair decided to form the two businesses together and are open right now, near to the Church Gresley Industrial Estate.

Clare Banton has spoken of why the pair chose to merge the two businesses together.

Mrs Banton said: “We were running round all day, ever so busy and we suddenly realised that we could put the two together and make a lot less work for ourselves.”

Newly formed Growlers will include the dog grooming services from Pinfold Pet Grooming and the shop including leads, collars, treats and pet accessories from Berts Paws and Claws.

A new feature will be a self-use bathroom for public use, where dog owners are welcome to bring their mucky pup and clean them up themselves.

“Sometimes people don’t want the mess of cleaning the dog at home, and we thought this was a new unique idea to the area,” Mrs Banton explained.

Prices range from £5 and rise depending on the size of the dog and will come with everything you need to clean up apart from the dog itself.

She also said that they get quite a few comments regarding the new name for the store, “We actually thought of it on a drunken night out!

“Quite a few people smirk at it; I think it’s just a bit of tongue in cheek, a bit racy. But that really just adds to the intrigue.”

Growlers will be hosting an open day on Saturday, July 15 from 10am until 3pm, giving customers the chance to see what they are offering and what they can do for your pet.

Refreshments will be available throughout the day. For any more information about the business or the open day, visit Growlers Facebook page here.
