A Stapenhill school is looking for a new assistant to improve the outcomes for disadvantaged pupils.

Blessed Robert Sutton Catholic Sports College, in Bluestone Lane, is looking for a new pupil premium support assistant to join the team for 30 hours a week during term time.

The post has been created for the successful applicant to specifically build relationships with disadvantaged pupils and their families so they can have regular contact with them relating to their general wellbeing, attendance, behaviour and academic progress.

They will also co-ordinate the school's use of the accelerated reader and STAR reading programmes as well as library provision for pupils.

This will include overseeing the systems for issuing reading books, administering termly reading tests and providing relevant reports on standards of reading at the school.

A spokesman said: "The post represents an exciting professional and career development opportunity for the right person.

"The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and therefore the appointment for this post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure."
