Those who enjoy caring for others and want to make a difference to an older person's life are being urged to apply to become a home care assistant in Burton.
Health and Social Care Jobs is recruiting home care assistants and companions to care for people in Burton, Anslow, Willington, Barton under Needwood, Yoxall, Tutbury and Repton on a part-time and flexible basis.
Successful applicants will be required to work approximately 10 to 30 hours per week and be available for some early mornings, lunch-times, afternoons and evenings.
A spokesman said: “You will be working for an award-winning provider specialising in companionship and care and support to private clients who are still living independently, but require companionship and care to help them to remain independent.
“This could include offering support to help them with their morning routine, assistance with washing, dressing, prompting to take medication, taking them out shopping/attending local groups, attending doctors/hospital appointments, preparing a meal for them and being a friend and someone for company. Nothing is rushed as we spend an absolute minimum of an hour with the people we support.
“Being a home care assistant or companion is very rewarding and works both ways, you will also gain a companion and friend. Making a difference to someone every day is the biggest benefit and motivator for doing this job.
“Firstly, you have to want to make a difference and have a big heart. You can be any age group and from any background there is no upper limit, the ability to be able to strike a relationship and rapport with the person you are paired with is so important. To be a home care assistant you should also be happy to provide personal care which could be helping someone brush their teeth, assisting with washing and dressing, feeding or brushing their hair.”
The job offers an hourly rate of £8.50 to £18 including a mileage allowance.
