Those with a passion for caring for children in a difficult situation while providing advice, assistance and support could be in luck as jobs have become available in Burton.

Platform Childcare is looking for residential support workers and senior support workers to work in children’s homes in Burton where they will be required to provide quality care and therapeutic support to children and young people.

The successful applicant will work as part of a team to promote structure, boundaries, domestic routines and independence with a choice to follow individual care plans.

An NVQ level 3 diploma in children and young people is desirable or a willingness to complete this and those who apply must have the availability to work shifts. They are also ideally looking for someone with experience of working in a residential children’s home or with young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties and challenging behaviours.

They will be required to attend to practical matters in relation to childcare, establish positive relationships with young people and always offer them unconditional and positive regard while meeting the physical, emotional, behavioural, cultural and educational needs of young people.

Those who get the position will also be required to act as a role model and demonstrate appropriate pro-social ways of dealing with problems and ensure that each young person's care plan is followed and amended as appropriate to reflect their changing needs.
