An air ambulance was called out to Burton this morning to reports of a medical emergency close to de Ferrers Academy.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to an address in Hornbrook Road in Horninglow at 9.49am to assist a man who had taken ill.

Two ambulances, a paramedic offer and an air ambulance from Staffordshire were called to the incident and treated the patient at the scene before he was taken to hospital.

He was then taken to Queen's Hospital in Burton by land ambulance and he was treated by paramedics in the ambulance until he arrived at hospital.

The man is currently being treated in hospital, and his condition is unknown.
