Police have issued a fresh appeal for information after the body of a woman was found on the A38 in Derbyshire last week, Thursday August 3.

Officers from Derbyshire Constabularly are now looking to speak to anybody who drove down the main road on Thursday night, with a dash-cam in their car, after police were called to a stretch of the southbound carriageway between Ripley and the Coxbench turn-off. When they arrived, officers found the body of a woman close to the scene. The identity of the woman has not yet been released.

Detectives have been investigating the case and are hoping to trace people who were in a car that was seen close to where the body was found. It is believed that one of the occupants got out of the car, before getting back in and driving off.

Now, officers have issued a fresh appeal for anyone with a dash-cam who was driving in either direction between 10.30pm and 11pm on Thursday evening to get in touch.

Even if the footage drivers have does not seem relevant, police still want to see it in the hope it could provide answers over the woman's death.

A statement from police said: "A large number of vehicles are known to have been on the road around the time and we want to hear from anyone who was travelling on the A38 and has a dash-cam in their vehicle.

"Our collision investigators want to view any footage that will have recorded that journey as part of an investigation into the death of a woman whose body was found on the A38 just south of Ripley."

Anyone with information is asked to call the Collision Investigations Unit on 101, quoting reference 17000332188.
