A motorist caught using a mobile phone at the wheel is the latest criminals to have their cases dealt with at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court:

Phone

A man has admitted using a mobile phone while driving. Paul Barnett, 45, of Swepstone Road, Heather, Leicestershire, admitted via the single justice procedure of driving a BMW while using a handheld mobile phone in Castle Gresley on Ocrober 25.
He has been fined £96 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with three points.

Identity charge

A woman was caught failing to give the identity of a driver. It was proved via single justice procedure that Helena Long, 36, of Belvedere Road, Woodville, failed to give the identity to the police of the driver who was believed to have been guilty of an offence on or after November 15.
She has been fined £660 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £66 victim surcharge. She was banned from driving for six months.

Licence case

A man admitted driving without the correct licence. Norbert Horvath, 26, of Princess Street, Burton, admitted via the single justice procedure to using a Mercedes without insurance and otherwise than in accordance with a licence, in Osmaston Road, Derby, on October 30.
He has been fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge. He has been banned from driving for 12 months.

Drink driver

A man admitted drink-driving. Andrew Platt, 46, of Rothbury Green, Cannock, admitted driving a BMW on the A38 in Burton on June 10, with 79 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
He has been fined £1,153 with £85 court costs and a £115 victim surcharge. He has been banned from driving for 20 months.

Threatening behaviour

A man admitted using threatening words or behaviour. Robson Stewart, 21, of Horninglow Street, Burton, admitted using threatening or abusive words or behaviour in Burton on January 19.
He has been made the subject of a 12 month conditional discharge. He was ordered to pay £85 and a £20 victim surcharge.
