A clock which once stood in a South Derbyshire village could be returning after it was originally removed for health and safety reasons.

Hilton Parish Council previously held a public consultation on the future of the village clock, which stopped working and was not able to be repaired with a suitable wireless kit.

It was eventually removed for health and safety reasons as the column was starting to corrode quite badly and could have fractured at any time.

The parish council is now in the process of obtaining quotes to replace the village clock and is looking for sponsorship to fund the new timepiece.

Any individuals or businesses who could help out they can contact the parish council clerk Clare Orme on 01283 730969 or clerk@hiltonparishcouncil.org.uk
