A 26-year-old man was hit in the face by a thug who then stole his car, it has been revealed.

Leicestershire Police have launched an investigation following the incident which happened in the De Ruthyn Close area of Ashby.

At around 9.40pm Tuesday, July 11, the victim parked his car in the De Ruthyn Close area of
Ashby, when he was approached by a man who hit him in the face before jumping into the victim’s car and driving off.

From enquiries carried out so far it is believed a dark-coloured estate style vehicle was in convoy with the stolen white Mercedes A180.

Investigating officer PC Hallam is appealing for information and said: “We need the public’s help to find who was responsible for this incident.

“We think the Mercedes was driven along Market Street into Bath Street and Station Road.

“If you were in these areas and remember seeing the Mercedes or a vehicle in convoy, we would like to speak to you.

“Perhaps you saw the victim assaulted?”

The incident happened on Tuesday, July 11, but information has just been released to the media.
