A 55-year-old man who was reported missing while taking a canal boat holiday in Willington has been found, police have reported.

Derbyshire Police were today, Tuesday, August 15,appealing to the public for help in finding David Gardner, who went missing three hours ago.

However, in that time, he has was found, and the public has been thanked for sharing the police appeal.

Mr Gardner was last seen walking along the towpath from Willington, where he was staying, in the direction of Twyford at about 5.15pm, said a police spkesman.

He was last seen wearing a red polo shirt, dark denim three-quarter length shorts and black Crocs shoes.

Derbyshire Police had thought he may have been trying to make his way back to his home in Blackpool and officers wanted to hear from anyone who may have seen him by a roadside this evening. But he was later found.
