Paramedics treated a person who fell from a fair ride in Ashby at the weekend, it has been confirmed.

East Midlands Ambulance Service said someone had fallen from the waltzer and that a 999 call was received at 2.16 pm on Saturday, September 16. The incident took place in Market Street, Ashby. The Ashby Statutes fair is currently taking place in the town centre on Market Street. It started on Friday, September 15, and finished on Tuesday, September 19,

Using the information given by the 999 caller, EMAS said the incident was recorded as a fall. Its emergency operations centre dispatched a community first responder and an ambulance to treat the patient. It is not know if it was a male or female patient.

The patient was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary by the ambulance crew. It is not known what injuries they suffered.

Police confirmed they were in the area at the time and recorded the incident as a fall from the waltzers.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE), which investigates and monitors health ans safety issues in the workplace confirmed it has been informed of the incident.

A HSE spokesman said: "HSE has been made aware of the incident by Leicestershire Police, with whom we remain in contact."
