A South Derbyshire convenience store has been targeted by an armed robber wielding a knife in a broad daylight raid.

Staff at The Co-operative store, in Main Street, Rosliston, reported that a man walked into the store in the middle of the afternoon, demanding money while holding a large blade.

He also made threats, although it is not yet clear what he said to frightened staff, said police.

Derbyshire police are investigating the incident and are appealing for any witnesses to get in touch.

The incident took place at 12.25pm on Saturday, August 19, when a man entered the store with a knife.

He made threats to staff and then left with a quantity of cash. Police were unable to confirm how much money was stolen.

The staff members were not injured during the incident, said a police spokesman.

A police cordon remained in place on Saturday but the shop is now open as usual today, Sunday, August 20
