New students at Burton and South Derbyshire College got to kick-start their courses in style as the college hosted its annual Freshers' Fair.

The event is run every year by the college, which sits in the centre of Burton, to give new students a chance to make new friends and learn more about the college. They are also given advice on everything from personal security to taking care of their finances.

Emily Vinall, enrichment and wellbeing co-ordinator, said: "The Freshers' Fair provided a great opportunity for new students to mix with each other and make friends in a relaxed, fun environment.

"It also gave representatives from local services the opportunity to provide students with useful advice and information on a wide range of subjects, giving them an insight into what the College and local area have to offer."

The day consisted of numerous activities for students to stuck their teeth into, such as giant Kerplunk and Connect 4 games as well as a football shootout, organised by Burton Albion FC's Community Trust. The College's cafe, Mulberry Bistro, also got involved, giving out free food and hot chocolate.
